Our Mission
Every young person deserves to feel safe, included, respected, valued, and supported. The Safe Spaces mission is to help create communities where belonging is encouraged, differences are respected, and every student has opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
Why Safe Spaces Exists
Safe Spaces was created from the belief that prevention begins long before a crisis occurs. Young people are more likely to thrive when they feel connected to their schools, families, friendships, and communities.
By promoting belonging, inclusion, kindness, respect, empathy, and healthy relationships, Safe Spaces seeks to help create environments where students feel supported and valued throughout their daily lives.
Our Vision
We envision schools and communities where every young person feels that they belong, where differences are respected, where kindness is encouraged, and where students are empowered to support one another.
We believe that creating safer, more inclusive environments benefits everyone and helps strengthen the wellbeing of entire communities.

Education Through Understanding
Safe Spaces is built on the belief that education begins with understanding. Helping young people learn how to think critically, communicate respectfully, understand different perspectives, and support one another creates stronger foundations for lifelong success.
Lasting change often begins with conversations, awareness, and a willingness to learn from one another.
Part of the 101 Roses Foundation
Safe Spaces is an initiative of the 101 Roses Foundation. While the Foundation’s heritage is rooted in Suicide Awareness and Prevention, Safe Spaces focuses on the upstream factors that help young people feel connected, supported, respected, and protected before challenges become crises.
Together, these initiatives reflect a shared belief: every young person deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and protected.
Helping Young People Thrive
The Safe Spaces mission is not only about responding to problems. It is about helping young people build confidence, strengthen relationships, develop empathy, and feel supported in the places where they learn, grow, and connect with others.
By focusing on student wellbeing, belonging, inclusion, and positive community connection, Safe Spaces supports a healthier foundation for young people and the communities around them.
Continuing the Mission
The Safe Spaces mission continues through resources for teens, parents, educators, and communities. Each page supports the larger goal of helping young people feel safe, included, respected, and valued.
